The program equips medical providers, dental and behavioral health professionals, nurses and other health care team members with current data, evidence-based knowledge and strategies to effectively counsel and treat patients using tobacco and other nicotine delivery devices.

Objectives

1. Interpret current data on tobacco use, tobacco related illnesses, e-cigarette use, and smoking abstinence rates.

2. Identify emerging tobacco products.

3. Describe current evidence-based pharmacotherapeutic and behavioral treatment methods for nicotine dependence.

4. Describe evidenced-based interventions and recommendations to prevent and reduce the significant rise in e-cigarette use by youth including the current use of Juul Settlement funds.

5. Discuss the Medicaid Tobacco-Free Policy Requirement as it pertains to standard and tailored plan contracts.
