Summary:
While most tobacco control advocates recognize that tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, even the most seasoned advocate can occasionally lose sight of the individuals and families who benefit from our work. In this webinar, the speakers will highlight the real life stories of loss and pain that remind us of the impact of our tobacco control work, and explain the how the power of personal testimony can be harnessed to bring about tobacco control policy change.
This webinar will be the third in the Tobacco Control Network’s Harvey Leadership Webinar Series, which is dedicated to building new leaders in the tobacco control movement.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Understand how personal testimony can complement the use of population-level data to more clearly illustrate the toll of tobacco use.
- Explain how tobacco control advocates have applied storytelling to support tobacco control advocacy efforts.
- Identify at least one way in which storytelling can be used to energize the tobacco control movement in their state or locality.
