Summary:
Organizing community support for smoke-free air and other tobacco control measures is a challenge for many state and local tobacco control programs. This webinar will provide a step-by-step process for planning and implementing successful town hall meetings. We will hear about “lessons learned,” and how to overcome challenges from the state and local perspectives. The webinar will also feature media materials and video footage from successful events.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Plan and organize an effective town hall meeting
- Utilize media advocacy to educate the public, shape public opinion, and influence policy-makers to support and take action regarding smoke-free air policies
- Recruit supporters from the hospitality, health/medical, and business sectors, as well as the general public, faith leaders/groups, and numerous other individuals, to act as advocates, coalition members, and spokespeople for smoke free air
- Identify potential challenges/barriers to planning/implementing a town hall meeting
