Summary:
Successful smoke-free air laws—their passage and effective implementation—are often dependent on a disciplined, strategic media campaign aimed to raise awareness and influence public opinion. With adequate public education, smoke-free laws become self-enforcing, with the vast majority of individuals and businesses in compliance. Our next Tobacco Control Network webinar will provide valuable lessons learned globally from mass media campaigns that can be applied at the state and local level in the US. In addition, participants will receive an overview of available media-related resources as well as valuable lessons from their peers on the frontlines of state tobacco control programs. This webinar will be of interest to all tobacco control professionals, whether or not they work directly with the media.
