State-level tobacco environments and sexual orientation disparities in tobacco use and dependence in the USATobacco Control. A comparison of tobacco-related environments at the state level and disparities in smoking by sexual orientation found that lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) adults in states with stronger tobacco control laws were less likely to have smoked and to currently smoke than LGB adults in states with more permissive tobacco environments. Researchers conclude that state-level policies have the potential to reduce inequalities in smoking based on sexual orientation.
