Webinar: MPOWER: Use in Tribal Communities

This will be the first of three monthly National Native Network technical assistance webinars using the MPOWER model. Participants will learn the genesis of the MPOWER model; how to develop SMART objectives using the MPOWER model; and the evaluation implications for integrating MPOWER and SMART objectives in their commercial tobacco prevention and control efforts.
CS2day Webinar: Strengthening Partnerships between Community Health Centers and Quitlines

This webinar describes how Cease Smoking Today (CS2day), a collaborative of universities and national organizations, partnered with Break Free Alliance, the North Carolina Community Health Center Association and Alere Wellbeing to identify ways that Community Health Centers (CHCs) and telephone quitlines can partner better to increase patient utilization of quitlines. Presenters will share tools, examples of existing strong partnerships between CHCs and quitlines, and explore future strategies that may strengthen partnerships and increase efficiency.
Webinar: Kill the Butts! Policy Options for Reducing Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Waste

Cigarette butts on public streets, sidewalks and other outdoor areas are toxic and unsightly and result in high litter management and collection costs for communities. This Tobacco Control Legal Consortium webinar will describe the problem of tobacco product waste, explain relevant environmental principles, and discuss several policy options. It will also describe efforts underway to reduce tobacco product waste.
Reduce Tobacco Use Conference 2014

Co-hosted by the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth and Prevention Connections, this conference will address tobacco and nicotine use prevention and reduction strategies for youth and young adults including working with priority populations, policy, research and evaluation, best practices, cessation and social media and marketing. Speakers will include representatives from the CDC, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and Dr. Victor DeNoble, a renowned expert in tobacco addiction, as well as many more knowledgeable and engaging presenters.
21st Annual Nicotine Dependence Conference

Hosted by the Mayo Clinic, this conference will spend an entire morning on e-cigarettes, including sharing information about the science, misinformation and regulatory issues surrounding these products. Two optional post-conference workshops designed primarily for Tobacco Treatment Specialists, counselors and other allied health professionals, will be offered.
Counter Tools Training Institute: Getting Started at the Point of Sale

This is a two-day, interactive training to help state and local organizations get started with point-of-sale (POS), or ramp up existing POS efforts. The Counter Tools Training Institute will take place in the classroom and in the field, and participants will receive ongoing support and tools for conducting store assessments after the training. Attendees will visit local tobacco retailers to conduct store audits. Session topics include making the case for POS, the policy change process, assessing POS priorities, and others.

National Minority Research Symposium on Tobacco & Addictions

This symposium from the Minority Research Center (MRC) on Tobacco and Addictions at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff serves a platform for the exchange of best practices, knowledge and resources regarding the prevention of tobacco use and other addictive substances within minority communities. This symposium aims to bring together a broad range of participants. Abstracts from research and/or practice-orientated projects from community members or organizations are welcome. National Conference on Tobacco and Behavioral Health
