Requests for Proposals
Request for Proposals: State tobacco retail inspection – Food and Drug Administration. The Food and Drug Administration intends to award contracts to State Agencies to assist in inspecting retail establishments that sell cigarettes and/or smokeless tobacco products and in surveillance of other entities that fall under the scope of the provisions of the Tobacco Control Act. FDA’s Office of Compliance and Enforcement will be sending a letter to each of the states and territories alerting them to the new RFPs and plans to work with the states one on one to determine which RFP option (fixed price RFP or cost-reimbursement RFP) would be most suitable for the state to use to apply.
Grant funding opportunity: Global Bridges request for proposals – Global Bridges and Pfizer Independent Grants for Learning & Change (IGLC). Global Bridges: Healthcare Alliance for Tobacco Dependence Treatment, hosted at Mayo Clinic, and Pfizer IGLC have announced a new round of grant funding for projects outside the United States. Up to $2 million in new funds are available to support projects in extending proven tobacco dependence treatment training programs for healthcare professionals, tobacco policy advocacy led by healthcare professionals, and developing new healthcare professional training programs based on evidence and best practice. The deadline for submission of Letters of Intent is March 7, 2014.
Call for proposals: Health Impact Project – Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This call for proposals will support two types of initiatives: 1) Health Impact Assessments (HIA) demonstration projects that inform a specific decision, with a focus on tribes, states, and territories that have had limited experience with HIAs to date; and 2) HIA program grants that enable organizations with previous HIA experience to develop sustainable HIA programs that integrate HIAs and related approaches in policy-making at the local, state, or tribal level. The deadline is April 2, 2014.
Call for proposals: Public health law research: Making the case for laws that improve health – Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The goal of this program is to build the evidence for and increase the use of effective regulatory, legal and policy solutions—whether statutes, regulations, case law or other policies—to protect and improve population health and the public health system. The deadline is April 15, 2014.
