New guides help states and communities achieve evidence-based tobacco policiesCenter for Public Health Systems Science (CPHSS) at Washington University in St. Louis and the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium. Two new tobacco control resources are available. The Policy Strategies guide describes how to work with the media, coalitions, decision makers, business owners, and communities on selecting and implementing evidence-based tobacco control policies. The Pricing Policy guide includes tools and resources on how to implement policies that effectively raise the cost of tobacco products.

Black market tobacco sales hurt New York businesses (NY)NPR. This podcast examines the impact that the black market and drugstore chain CVS’s decision to stop selling tobacco products might have on tobacco sales in other retail outlets like convenience stores. According to previous reports, just under half of all cigarettes consumed in New York were bought on the black market.
