Call for nominations for Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee members
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently published a notice in the Federal Register requesting nominations for voting members to serve on the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC). In conjunction, FDA also published a separate document announcing the request for nominations for nonvoting industry representatives of the TPSAC. A nominee may either be self-nominated or nominated by a person or organization to serve as a voting or nonvoting industry member. The open nomination period closes for nonvoting representatives on November 24, 2013 and for voting members on December 28, 2013. FDA invites public input on menthol in cigarettes
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a comment period for the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) seeking additional information to help the agency make informed decisions about menthol in cigarettes. Specifically, the FDA is requesting information to inform its thinking about potential regulatory options, such as establishing tobacco product standards, sale and distribution restrictions, and other regulatory actions and considerations.
