Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship
Legacy is accepting applications for the Dr. Alma Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications to Reduce Tobacco Use among Priority Populations. Applications will be accepted from high school, undergraduate, or graduate students through April 30, 2013. Smokeless Tobacco Product Warning Statements; Request for Comments and Scientific Evidence
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking public comments, supported by scientific evidence, regarding what changes to the smokeless tobacco product warnings, if any, would promote greater public understanding of the risks associated with the use of these products. Comments and supporting evidence should address how any changes in the warnings would affect both users' and nonusers' understanding of the risks associated with the use of smokeless tobacco products. FDA names new head of tobacco products center
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the new director of its Center for Tobacco Products (CTP). Mitch Zeller will be replacing the current director, Dr. Lawrence Deyton. Zeller has a history of aiding in the regulation of the tobacco industry, and will take over as the new director starting March 4, 2013. Under his leadership, the CTP will continue to work in tobacco product regulation in an effort to improve public health. Click here to read more.
