Monitoring the Future survey data: Teen smoking continues to decline in 2013 – University of Michigan News Service. Smoking among teens in grades 8, 10 and 12 continued to decline in 2013 — a positive trend since most smokers begin their habit in adolescence. These findings were based on data from the national Monitoring the Future study, which is funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse. A press release from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids notes that the data provide powerful evidence that we know how to win the fight against tobacco by implementing scientifically proven strategies.
