Webinar: Demystifying Lung Cancer Screening

Legacy, along with Lung Cancer Alliance will host a round-table discussion aimed at de-mystifying lung cancer screening as part of the Kenneth E. Warner Series Lecture. The presentation follows the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force’s recent release of its draft recommendation for preventive screenings that have the potential to help current and former smokers at high risk for lung cancer. The presentation will provide information about lung cancer screening, identify next steps in public health and public policy, and identify areas where the tobacco control community and proponents of lung cancer screening can work together. The event will be presented live in Washington, DC, and will be available via webcast. No registration is required to attend the webcast. International Conference on Public Health Priorities in the 21st Century: The Endgame for Tobacco

This conference will focus on developing multisectoral partnerships and taking tobacco control beyond the health sector to integrate it with the global development goals and appropriate treatment under trade agreements and treaties. Tackling Tobacco in Behavioral Health Settings Training

Hosted by Counter Tools, this two-day, interactive training is designed for tobacco control and public health workers from state and local health departments and voluntary organizations who want to learn more, get started, or ramp up their point-of-sale efforts. The training and associated follow-up activities are particularly helpful for those who want to start doing retail store assessments and would like to trial the Counter Store Audit Center software, a web-based mobile data collection system. Counter Tools is a project at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health to disseminate tools into the field of point of sale tobacco control. Beyond the 5 A's: Improving Cessation Interventions Through Strengthened Training
