Funding opportunities from SAMHSA for substance abuse treatment

  • Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Medical Professional Training Program Grants - The purpose of the program is to develop and implement training programs to teach health professionals skills to provide evidence-based screening, brief intervention, and brief treatment, and to refer patients to treatment. Eligible applicants: medical residency programs and public and private universities and colleges that have or are affiliated with programs for nursing and/or social work and/or counseling.
     
  • State Adolescent Treatment Enhancement and Dissemination Grants - The program provides funding to improve treatment for adolescents and transitional age youth through the development of a learning laboratory with collaborating local community-based treatment provider sites. Eligible applicants: the Single-State Substance Abuse agencies (SSAs) in the states/territories and the District of Columbia, and the highest ranking official and/or the duly authorized official of a federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native tribe or tribal organization. In addition, states/territories/tribes which received grant awards under TI-12-006 cooperative agreements for State Adolescent Treatment Enhancement and Dissemination, are not eligible to apply for this funding opportunity.
     
  • Cooperative Agreements To Benefit Homeless Individuals for State Grants - The program enhances the infrastructure of treatment service systems to increase capacity to provide evidence-based treatment services. Eligible applicants: the single state agencies for substance abuse in the District of Columbia (D.C.) and the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.
