Webinar: Current Trends in "Roll-Your-Own" Tobacco Regulation

This webinar, hosted by the Public Health Law Center, will describe the growth of the "roll-your-own" tobacco (RYO) industry in recent years and the resulting economic and public health effects. The webinar will describe federal laws that regulate the sale and distribution of RYO, as well as opportunities for state and local policies to fill remaining gaps and regulate RYO machine operators. Webinar: Implications for Global Quitlines of a Recent Study on NRT and Quitline Counseling in England

The North American Quitline Consortium is hosting a webinar that will highlight implications of the recent article by Ferguson et al. published in the British Medical Journal describing a 2x2 randomized study conducted in the UK comparing standard quitline care to proactive counseling, and provision of NRT to no NRT. Presentations will include a summary of the study design and findings, as well as formal responses from two international quitline researchers who are also strongly aligned with the quitline practice community. Strengths and weaknesses of the study, as well as implications for quitlines will be discussed. Click here for more information. Webinar: The National Asian Quitline: A Tobacco Cessation Resource for Asian-language Speakers

Hosted by the APPEAL PROMISE network with featured speaker Dr. Shu-Hong Zhu, this webinar will provide information about the upcoming launch of the National Asian Quitline. Participants will learn about the multilingual Asian Quitline's proven success in providing tobacco cessation services for Chinese-, Korean-, and Vietnamese-speaking smokers in the U.S. and find out how to ensure that this resource reaches Asian American communities. Webinar: Implementing Evidence-based Interventions within Healthcare Systems

The National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Research to Reality (R2R) October cyber-seminar will highlight three of the R2R Mentorship Program projects that are implementing cancer control interventions within healthcare systems. Three participants in this mentorship program will share the details of their projects (colorectal cancer screening programs and a program to increase the use of evidence-based tobacco cessation strategies) and how the lessons they learned may be translated to other communities and inform future research. Webinar: Implementation of the Affordable Care Act: Next Steps for Tobacco Control

The American Lung Association and the North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) will host this webinar on implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and how it impacts work in tobacco control. The webinar, open to everyone in the tobacco control community, will feature presentations and discussion on: federal actions to implement the ACA and how they affect tobacco cessation treatment coverage, what is happening at the state level, upcoming actions and decision points to be aware of, and next steps for the tobacco control community.
