Creek chief, Fallin sign compact governing sale of tobacco on tribal land
Governor of Oklahoma Mary Fallin and Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief George Tiger signed an agreement that permits the sale of tobacco on tribal land. This agreement resolves a lawsuit that had been filed by the state against the Creek Nation regarding the payment of state taxes for tobacco sales on their tribal lands. This settlement includes an $11.5 million payment to the state from the Creek Nation and a dismissal of the lawsuit. Click here to read more.

Two new publications from the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium's FDA Tobacco Project provide information on tools the public health community can use to engage in the federal tobacco regulatory process.
