New From Altria: A Nicotine Lozenge
Tobacco conglomerate Altria Group Inc. will launch a nondissolving, lozenge-shaped nicotine disk called Verve. The product, Verve, will not contain tobacco, but it will provide nicotine extracted from tobacco. This experimental smokeless product is expected to be marketed with milder health warning labels than those attached to cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. Lorillard acquires blu ecigs; $135 million deal offers expanded distribution capabilities for emerging product
The U.S. tobacco company, Lorillard Inc., has acquired the assets of the e-cigarette manufacturer “blu ecigs” for $135 million in cash. blue ecigs is reported to be the best-selling e-cigarette brand and a market leader in providing technology for e-cigarettes. Lorillard’s acquisition of blu ecigs will expand its distribution capabilities and provide exposure to Lorillard’s “regulatory experience and sales infrastructure,” according to a statement from the blue cigs CEO.
