Legacy's 2012 Tobacco Industry Documents Awards
Legacy is accepting nominations for the 2012 Tobacco Industry Documents Awards. These awards recognize individuals who have made a significant and well-recognized contribution to the health of the public in the recent past through use of tobacco documents. The awards honor innovation in the use and application of tobacco industry documents to further the goals of tobacco prevention and control in order to help build a world where young people reject tobacco and anyone can quit. Those nominated should be individuals who have made a notable impact through innovative use of tobacco industry documents as applied to research, policy, or advocacy. These awards will be presented at the National Conference on Tobacco or Health to be held August 15-17, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri. Call for Submissions: APHA Public Health Materials Contest
The American Public Health Association (APHA) Public Health Education Health Promotion section is soliciting the best health education, promotion and communication materials for its 22nd annual competition. The entry deadline is April 13,2012. Click here to learn more.

2012 "I'm Your Community Guide!" contest
Any state, tribal, local, and territorial health department; community health coalition; and other organization that has used or is currently using the findings and recommendations outlined in the Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide) may submit their story to the Public Health Foundation’s “I’m Your Community Guide!” contest to demonstrate the value of implementing evidence-based strategies. Stories submitted to the contest will help to identify model practices, and top entrants will receive awards to recognize their organization’s accomplishments. Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications
Legacy is accepting applications for the Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications to reduce tobacco use among priority populations that are disproportionately targeted by the tobacco industry, or who often lack the tools and resources to combat smoking in their communities. Two $5,000 awards will be granted on a competitive basis for the following: a) a record of commitment to community service on behalf of an underserved community, preferably related to tobacco prevention and/or control and b) the best use of the visual arts, media, creative writing or other creative endeavor to convey culturally appropriate health messages aimed at raising awareness of tobacco’s harmful impact.
