CTP marks 3-year anniversary with a look ahead to a healthier future
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) is commemorating the three year anniversary of the passage of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (Tobacco Control Act) and celebrating progress toward its goal of eliminating tobacco-related disease and death. CTP has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a research program that helps to identify the most effective ways of answering regulatory science questions related to tobacco products. CTP makes regulatory decisions based on the best available science, and recognizes the need for additional research on certain topics to support these decisions. Examples of the research topics of priority are reducing addiction to tobacco products and furthering understanding of the adverse health consequences of tobacco use. Click here to read more.
