Webinar: Digging into the Tobacco Documents: Real Life Examples of How to Advance Tobacco Control
August 7, 2012 at 1:00 - 2:30 pm Eastern Time
The online collection of tobacco industry documents at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Legacy Tobacco Documents library provides hard evidence for anyone interested in building a case for tobacco control policies or facing legal challenges to tobacco control measures. Tobacco control advocates, policymakers, and attorneys can take advantage of the wealth of information contained in tobacco industry documents to identify common tobacco industry strategies and practices, and advance tobacco control. During this webinar, the speakers will describe how to use the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium's publication, The Verdict Is In, which contains findings from the historic U.S. v. Philip Morris civil racketeering case, to identify cited documents in the UCSF library. A library specialist at UCSF will demonstrate helpful online search techniques, and the Program Director of the Northern California Indian Development Council will provide practical examples of how tobacco industry documents can be used in tobacco control advocacy and education.
