This upcoming lecture will be presented on May 26 at 1pm ET at West Virginia University’s Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, West Virginia, and will feature a presentation by Jill Williams, MD, of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). This lecture is part of the “Clinical Concepts in Tobacco Treatment Lecture Series” offered by the Translational Tobacco Reduction Research Program (T2R2), a joint program of the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC) and the West Virginia Prevention Research Center. SAMHSA 10x10 Wellness Campaign Training Teleconference: New Frontiers in Smoking Cessation to Support Wellness among People with Mental Health Problems

How can we increase awareness of the latest and most effective tobacco cessation tools, initiatives, and services specifically designed for mental health consumers and those working in mental health settings? To help consumers and providers explore this question, the SAMHSA 10x10 Wellness Campaign is holding a free training teleconference on May 26 at 3-4:30pm ET. The speakers on the call will include Chad Morris, Ph.D., University of Colorado Denver Department of Psychiatry; Marlene M. Reil, Ph.D., C.A.S.A.C., New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; and Yasmin Halim of CHOICES (Consumers Helping Others Improve their Condition by Ending Smoking). World No Tobacco Day 2010

World No Tobacco Day is celebrated around the world every year on May 31. This yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what the World Health Organization (WHO) is doing to fight the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations. WHO has selected "Gender and tobacco with an emphasis on marketing to women" as the theme for the next World No Tobacco Day. World No Tobacco Day 2010 will give overdue recognition to the importance of controlling the epidemic of tobacco among women. Click here for more information.
