West Virginia University's Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and WV Prevention Research Center present the Tobacco Research Intensive Lecture Series - TRILS 2009. The theme of the conference is, "Burning Issues in Tobacco Research." TRILS offers continuing education credits available in various disciplines, CME, CDE, CNE, CHES and more. 5th National Summit on Smokeless and Spit Tobacco

The 5th National Summit on Smokeless and Spit Tobacco is designed to support health care professionals, public health and policy professionals, tobacco treatment specialists, scientists, physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, state and federal tobacco prevention and control administrators, tobacco program staff and advocates who have an interest in smokeless and spit tobacco. The Summit is the primary forum professionals in the smokeless tobacco field have to come together to learn of best practices, share success stories, hear about prevention and cessation approaches that work, and become aware of the latest research in the field. It also provides these professionals a specific opportunity to network with their colleagues nationally and internationally. The theme for this year's program is New Products, New Challenges and a New Generation of Advocacy. Jack Henningfield will be the keynote speaker, and the summit will include sessions on Interventions and Policy, New Science, Priority Populations/New Users, Cessation, Taxation/New Products Policy and more. Early Bird registration for the summit is $350 and ends on August 31; beginning September 1 the full registration fee is $400.  One-day registration options are available, and there is a reduced Youth registration fee. 3rd Smoking Cessation Conference

Keeping in mind the success of the last two smoking cessation conferences in the UK, this upcoming conference will be a platform bringing together pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare organizations to collaborate and improve smoking cessation treatments. The aim of the conference will be to present the developments and success of new products in the pipeline to aid smoking cessation to where the product market is advancing in both mechanism and drug delivery. Break Free Alliance 2010 National Conference

Save the date for the Break Free Alliance’s 2010 National Conference, Promising Practices: Achieving Health and Social Equity in Tobacco Control. This Conference is presented by the Health Education Council’s Break Free Alliance and National African American Tobacco Education Network (NAATEN). Don’t miss this important conference, offering the latest information and promising practices to meeting the needs of low socioeconomic status (SES) communities. The goal of the Break Free Alliance is to engage key organizations serving low SES populations in tobacco control efforts and to assist them with resource development and assessments, technical assistance, capacity building, and evaluation to prevent and reduce tobacco use in low-income communities. We are seeking abstracts highlighting best practices, innovative programs and policies, and current research focused on reducing tobacco use prevalence among African American and/or low SES populations.
