Call for Applications: California Tobacco Control Program Educational
Materials Development
The California Tobacco Control Program is seeking to award a single contract
to operate and maintain a statewide technical assistance (TA), training, and
coordination project to coordinate services for the development of tobacco
control educational materials. The primary recipients of the services are
approximately 100 projects funded by CTCP to implement tobacco control
related projects at local health departments, community-based organizations,
and other statewide TA and training agencies. Click here to access the announcement and application information. The deadline

Call for Nominations: 2008 International Tobacco Industry Document Research and Advocacy Award
The Public Health Advocacy Institute at Northeastern University and the University of California, San Francisco Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education are proud to offer an award to promote innovative uses of tobacco industry documents. The award is given to recognize research, policy, and advocacy contributions that resulted in tangible, positive actions from traditional or innovative uses of tobacco industry documents. The 2007 International Tobacco Industry Document Research and Advocacy Award was given to Pascal Diethelm of Switzerland for his work in exposing the surreptitious tobacco industry sponsorship of a leading scientific doubter of the link between secondhand smoke and disease. The award is open only for work that was not done in the United States. The winner of this year's award will receive $2,500 and will be honored during the World Conference on Tobacco or Health, to be held March 8-12, 2009 in Mumbai, India. Call for Abstracts: 2009 National Conference on Tobacco or Health Call
The National Conference on Tobacco or Health will take place June 10-12, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. The purpose of the National Conference on Tobacco or Health is to improve and sustain the effectiveness and reach of tobacco control programs and activities in the United States. Whether you are a student, program manager, researcher, or seasoned advocate; or whether you work at the local, state, or national level, the 2009 National Conference welcomes your abstract submission(s). Abstracts are being accepted for twelve program areas in tobacco control. Presentation formats include: poster, lecture/panel, group discussion, debate, group activity, and others. Abstracts will be accepted online at the conference website through November 14, 2008. Click here to view the call for abstracts on the conference website.
