No Smoking lights axed for No Phone lights
Now that all flights are nonsmoking flights, Air France is eliminating ‘no smoking’ alert lights from their fleet.  Rather than keep the ‘no smoking’ lights on constantly when most customers are aware that smoking is not permitted, the company is replacing the ‘no smoking’ lights with ‘no phone’ lights, which will indicate when it is safe to use a mobile phone in flight.  This innovation reflects an overall change in social norms regarding smoking on airplanes.  Click here to read more about Air France’s innovation.
