World Cancer Campaign 2008-2009
This year’s World Cancer Campaign kicked off on World Cancer Day, February 4, 2008. The theme of the campaign is, “I love my smoke-free childhood.” The campaign aims to inform both adults and children worldwide that there is no safe exposure level of secondhand smoke. Partnership for Prevention® has developed this new tool to help public health professionals maximize the beneficial impact of smoke-free laws. Rooted in The Guide to Community Preventive Services: What Works to Improve Health? (Community Guide), this tool translates an evidence-based recommendation into practical implementation guidance. Bringing Everyone Along

Oklahoma launches its first statewide media campaign “Tobacco Stops with Me”
Oklahoma has taken the next big step in its tobacco control movement by launching its first statewide media campaign, “Tobacco Stops With Me.” The campaign, which launched in January 2008, is designed specifically for Oklahoma and was created with input from research and focus groups around the state. Consisting of television, radio, print and outdoor ads, and an interactive Web site www.stopswithme.com, the “Tobacco Stops With Me” campaign highlights how tobacco use impacts us as individuals, how it influences our relationships, and how each Oklahoman has a role to play in the movement to reduce the burden of tobacco use in our state. “Tobacco Stops With Me” campaign ads, fact sheets and press release can be viewed on the new Web site, www.stopswithme.com
