Legacy Innovative Grants (LIG)
The American Legacy Foundation is currently accepting Letters of Intent for its Innovative Grants program. Through the Legacy Innovative Grants (LIG), the American Legacy Foundation supports projects that advance creative solutions to the challenges caused by tobacco use in America. Previously known as the Small Innovative Grants Program, Legacy created Innovative Grants to enable organizations to pilot new projects, new ideas or new approaches, based on sound principles of tobacco control. Twice each year, Legacy supports a limited number of grants under this program. Legacy provides up to $100,000 for the first year of funding. Unique Interactions Between Tobacco Use and HIV/AIDS
The purpose for this FOA issued by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Fogarty International Center encourages Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to stimulate research related to the unique, interactive health effects of cigarette smoking and HIV/AIDS. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) grant mechanism and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-08-254, that encourages applications under the Small Research Grant (R03) award mechanism. Request for Proposal for Planning Meeting on Sustaining Local Tobacco Control Programs
The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH), and the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Office on Smoking and Health (CDC/OSH), are pleased to offer a  planning meeting and development opportunity to improve the capacity of local public health professionals to plan and implement activities that will support and sustain tobacco control program efforts and resources over the long term. Call for nominations: The 2009 Tobacco Industry Documents Awards
Help the American Legacy Foundation promote innovative uses of tobacco industry documents! Legacy is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Tobacco Industry Documents Awards, including the Sybil G. Jacobs Adult Award for Outstanding Use of Tobacco Industry Documents and the Christine O. Gregoire Youth/Young Adult Ward for Outstanding Use of Tobacco Industry Documents.  These awards recognize research, policy, and advocacy contributions that resulted in tangible, positive actions from traditional or innovative uses of tobacco industry documents. Winners receive $7,500 and will be honored during the National Conference on Tobacco or Health in Phoenix, AZ, on June 11, 2009.
