Altria Board of Directors announces intention to pursue spin-off of Phillip Morris International
The Altria Group Board of Directors has announced that it will pursue the creation of a spin-off company, Phillip Morris International. The Board is expected to have finalized its decision as well as a timetable of events at its next meeting in January of 2008. What are you smoking? Canadian tobacco companies re-brand entire cigarette lines
Canada’s three largest cigarette companies have renamed their products to replace controversial descriptors such as “light” and “mild.” Health Canada and other anti-smoking groups have long alleged that names like these on cigarette packages confuse smokers into thinking that they are less harmful to health than regular cigarettes. Despite the name changes, which the cigarette companies have not widely advertised, the packaging will retain the same style and colors. Click here to read more.
