Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids releases two reports detailing tobacco industry marketing expenditures
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has released two new factsheets that estimate the amount of money the tobacco industry spends on marketing in each state. While the tobacco companies don’t report their expenditures by state, CTFK allocated the state totals based on cigarette packs sold per state. States continue to be massively outspent, by a ratio of 22 to 1 nationwide. The first factsheet compares what the tobacco industry spends in each state to what the state spends on tobacco prevention and cessation. The second factsheet highlights state-specific tobacco company marketing data from 1998 to 2005.
