2007 National Prevention and Health Promotion Summit
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will host the 2007 National Prevention and Health Promotion Summit, entitled “Creating and Culture of Wellness.” The summit will occur in place of previous conferences, including the Secretary’s National Prevention Summit, CDC’s National Health Promotion Conference, and others.   Partners who have a long history of supporting those meetings are invited to help foster a culture of wellness and reduce the disease burden and economic impact of some of the nation’s leading causes of death and disability.

5th annual National LGBTI Anti-Tobacco Summit
The 5th annual National LGBTQI Anti-Tobacco Summit, entitled “Expanding our Movement: Lessons from the Field,” will take place on October 23, 2007 in Minneapolis, MN. This summit will directly precede the National Conference on Tobacco or Health and will be the best opportunity to network with others in the field of LGBT tobacco control. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Francisco O. Buchting, the CLASH vice president. His recent work includes chairing a synthesis meeting to discuss sampling issues among LGBT of color and subsequently co-editing a report on the meeting’s findings. Please make sure to save this date, October 23rd, from 8:30am to 5:00pm and check the website regularly for news and updates or to submit an abstract for a summit workshop.
