American Legacy Foundation announces truth® or Consequences Youth Tobacco Prevention Grants Program
To enhance the impact of the truth® media campaign, the American Legacy Foundation is offering grant funding to support community-based tobacco prevention efforts in the 18 project states. Only projects conducted in these states will be eligible for funding. The deadline for receipt of letters of intent is September 7, 2007. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant opportunity: Tobacco Policy Change
Tobacco Policy Change is a national initiative of RWJF created to ensure continued momentum on effective tobacco control policies and extend that momentum to communities where people are most vulnerable to tobacco’s devastating impact. A new solicitation will have prospective grantees apply their skills and experience to advance tobacco and other public health policies. For more information, click here.

New award for international tobacco industry documents
The Public Health Advocacy Institute and the University of California, San Francisco Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education are offering a new award to promote innovative uses of tobacco industry documents, and to recognize research, policy and advocacy contributions that resulted in tangible, positive actions from traditional or innovative uses of tobacco industry documents. The award is only open for work that was not done in the United States. The winner of the first award will receive $2,500 and will be honored during the National Conference on Tobacco or Health in Minneapolis, MN on October 25, 2007. Nominations are due August 31, 2007 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
