States of Change: Exploring How to Facilitate Tobacco-Free Environments and Communities through Policy and Systems Change
March 5 – 6, 2007; Columbus, OH

States of Change will examine how regional and industry leaders, policy makers and tobacco control and prevention advocates have approached policy and systems changes that result in tobacco-free environments. The conference will bring together an outstanding panel of presenters representing a wide array of industries who have instituted policy and systems changes, as well as those who have engineered successful public anti-tobacco campaigns. The two-day conference will host over 30 experts sharing their unique perspectives on a wide range of topics. Day one of the conference will focus on how various sectors from higher education to workplaces to housing have implemented significant policy and systems changes related to tobacco use. Day two of the conference brings in those from the tobacco prevention and control field with case studies, workshops and compelling talks on how to affect change through public campaigns and initiatives. Evidence-Based Public Health: A Course in Chronic Disease Prevention

Kick Butts Day 2007

Kick Butts Day (KBD) is the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids' annual celebration of youth advocacy, leadership and activism. KBD is a day to stand out, speak up and seize control in the fight against tobacco. It is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the tobacco problem and support strong tobacco prevention policies. KBD has a new website designed to mirror the hard copy of the guide and provide an easy to use on-line tool kit for KBD event organizers to reference throughout the year. 17th Annual Art and Science of Health Promotion Conference

Society for Public Health Education Annual Meeting

SOPHE’s 58th Annual Meeting, Partnerships to Achieve Health Equity will take place in Alexandria, Virginia, October 31 - November 3, 2007. The meeting has been extended to 2 ½ days to accommodate collaboration with CDC’s Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program and Eta Sigma Gamma 40th Annual Meeting.
