campaign
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the five groups that will use $125
million of his money for a worldwide campaign against smoking. The organizations
include: the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention Foundation, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health,
the World Health Organization, and the World Lung Foundation. Bloomberg, a prominent

Voters approve amendment to hike anti-tobacco spending
In
Florida, an amendment requiring the state to spend more of
its tobacco settlement money on anti-smoking programs passed
by a wide margin. The amendment requires legislators to spend
at lead 15 percent, about $58 million, on anti-smoking programs.
The decision comes after a four year history of budgeting less
than $6 million a year for the State’s once highly funded
and successful campaign against teen smoking. For more information,
