Nat'l Governors Association removes Altria/Kraft as sponsor
of Healthy States grant program
The National Governors Association recently released a request
for proposals for the Healthy States grant program,
which will fund competitive grants to states for efforts
to improve the health of countless Americans through innovative
worksite and community wellness programs. Altria/Kraft funding
has been removed from the Healthy States grant program,
as it could put future foundation state grants at risk.
NGA is providing $150,000 as replacement for the original
$250,000 in Altria/Kraft funds, so the total available would
be $1.275 million. They will issue up to 14 state grants
at the same funding level originally announced (up to $100,000
per award). All other qualifications and guidance remain
the same, and the new deadline for Healthy State grant application
submissions is June 27th, with the project timeline adjusted
to reflect this extension. For more information, go to the
NGA
website.
