MPAAT Board of Directors approves additional $1
milion in research grants
The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Partnership
for Action Against Tobacco (MPAAT) has approved five grants
for new research on topics ranging from indoor air quality
to tobacco use among 18-to-24 year olds in the workplace.
MPAAT will award more than $1 million to Minnesota researchers
through these grants. This funding is in addition to the
$2.4 million the Board awarded for research projects in
May 2006. Combined, these grants mark MPAAT's largest annual
investment in research since its inception in 1998. Click

OSH Sustaining State Programs Training
for State Teams
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Office
on Smoking and Health is pleased to offer a training and
development opportunity to improve the capacity of state
tobacco control programs to plan and implement activities
that will support and sustain program efforts and resources
over the long term. The one-day workshop and follow up activities
are designed to improve the capacity of state tobacco control
programs to work with other state and community-based partners
to promote and sustain ongoing commitment and resources
for tobacco control efforts. Completed applications with
letters of commitment are due September 7, 2006. Click here
