in support of community and state tobacco policy advocacy

Tobacco Policy Change: A Collaborative for Healthier Communities
and States is a national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation that provides resources and technical assistance
for local, statewide and regional organizations and tribal
groups to advocate for effective tobacco prevention and cessation
policy change. The goals of the program are to:
- Support innovative projects that can change tobacco policy
through partnerships with or collaboration among groups
most affected by tobacco use.
- Maintain tobacco policy gains and momentum in communities,
states and regions.
- Strengthen and diversify the state and national tobacco
policy change infrastructure.
Applicant organizations are required to have significant
experience in policy advocacy; however, prior experience in
tobacco prevention and cessation is not required to be eligible
for RWJF funding.
This is the second round of competitive grant application
cycles under this program. Grants will be 12 months in duration.

EPA: Replacement Grant to Increase Awareness of Adverse
Effects of Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)/Secondhand Smoke
on Children
Due July 18, 2005
EPA seeks proposals from eligible entities to undertake national
education, training, and outreach projects that: promote awareness
and understanding of the environmental health benefits of
smoke-free environments for children, strengthen the capacity
of families and communities to create and sustain a smoke-free
environment for children, reduce children’s exposure
to ETS, and assess the effectiveness and sustainability of
education and outreach strategies that reduce and/or prevent
children’s exposure to ETS.
