Evidence-based elementary
school tobacco use curriculums – 1/3/06
Q: What proven and research-effective program(s)
have states initiated/established as an elementary school-based
curriculum to address tobacco use initiation in 3rd-5th grade
student age groups? And, if these have been established at
the state level for a period of time, could the specific state
data supporting effectiveness be given?
A:
- Ohio: Ohio hasn't pushed it, but the
only evidence-based prevention program that I am aware of
is the Upper Elementary Life Skills Training curriculum.
It's for grades 3/4, 4/5, and 5/6 depending on how the schools
are divided in the district.
