Tobacco control budget and staffing – 3/20/06

Q: What is your total program budget for tobacco (federal, state and grant dollars) and how many FTE work on tobacco control (paid for by federal, state or other dollars)?

A:

  1. Alabama: Our total budget, including state and federal funds is around $2.1 million per year which employs around 24 FTEs (full time equivalents) statewide.
     
  2. Arizona: Total Budget - approximately $24.5 Million ($24 M excise tax, $490,000 CDC Grant). FTEs - we have 17 positions with 2.5 paid by CDC dollars. Currently we have 7 vacancies.
     
  3. California: The 2005/06 budget for the California Tobacco Control Program is $58,568,962. We have approximately 55 FTE.
     
  4. Florida: Our program budget is as follows:
    • CDC Grant (Federal) $705,000.00 Tobacco Prevention and Control Program; 7 FTE's
    • State dollars from tobacco settlement for youth tobacco only $1,000,000.00; 6 FTE's
    • CDC Grant (Federal) Quitline Supplemental Funding only $285,000.00; 1/2 FTE
       
  5. Indiana: CDC dollars: $1,090,167 plus $250,000 supplemental quitline dollars (7 FTE); MSA dollars: $10.8 million (11 FTE) plus coalitions in 92 counties with a paid coordinator
     
  6. Kentucky: $3.6 million (MSA & CDC), 4.5 FTE’s currently
     
  7. New Hampshire: CDC only -$906,000 3 professional staff, 1 manager, 1 support staff.
     
  8. Washington: we have a $29 million budget with 13 FTEs.
     
  9. West Virginia: FY06 budget for tobacco prevention in WV is $6.75M, $5.65M in State funds and $1.1M in CDC/OSH funds. We have 10 FTEs
