Webinar with FDA: Collection of Data on Dissolvable Tobacco Products

Wednesday, September 7, 2011
8 a.m. PT/9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET - (60 minutes)

Summary:
The Tobacco Control Act grants FDA important new authority to regulate the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of tobacco products to protect the public health generally and to reduce tobacco use by minors. Among its many provisions, the Tobacco Control Act requires the FDA Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC) to:

  1. Study “the issue of the nature and the impact of the use of dissolvable tobacco products on the public health, including such use among children,” and
  2. Submit a report and recommendations to FDA.

The webinar, co-hosted by the Tobacco Control Network and the FDA Center for Tobacco Products, will provide an overview of this process, its importance, and how best to engage in it as state and territorial tobacco control programs, including data of interest. Additionally, there will be time at the end of this call for general CTP updates and questions.
