TCN Strategies for Smoke-Free Air Policy Implementation Teleconference Series

Every state or local community’s smoke-free air law is different; and even those that are considered among the best may have imperfections and loopholes that gone unchecked can be a persistent distraction for government officials who are required to enforce the law. By serving as a resource on “best practices” in smoke-free air policy, tobacco control managers can play a valuable, expert role to educate decision makers about the need for the strongest policies possible. Furthermore, following passage of legislation, taking action to tighten up exemptions during the rulemaking procedures will pay off during the implementation of the law.
