SUMMARY:The Cost of Access: Raising the Price of Tobacco Products
DESCRIPTION:Eliminating low-priced tobacco products is an important tobacco
  prevention and public health tool. The lower that tobacco products are pr
 iced in a community\, the higher the likelihood that more members of that 
 community will use those products and develop nicotine addiction. It is no
 t a coincidence that tobacco products are often the cheapest in neighborho
 ods with the lowest income levels. This helps perpetuate the tobacco indus
 try’s stranglehold in vulnerable communities.\n\nDuring this 45-minute w
 ebinar\, the Public Health Law Center will present on the various methods 
 used by the tobacco industry to reduce prices and how states and local gov
 ernments can counter them and adopt policies that increase the cost of pur
 chasing tobacco products to the consumer with the goal of furthering publi
